I have that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
The Kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but is seen and known in righteousness, peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost. We got translated into the Kingdom of God the very moment when we made Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives.
God’s Kingdom came to us when the Holy Spirit came to us and regenerated our spirits, making us new creations. Now that we are in the Kingdom of God, we need to learn of our King and discover His lifestyle from Him so we can adapt and become like Him in every way. Love is God’s lifestyle. He is love and everything He does is based on love.
Love is the lifestyle of the Kingdom of God. God is love and anyone who walks or lives in love, certainly has God as ruler and king over His life. The kingdom of God functions when its citizens yield to the authority of the king of the Kingdom. Yielding to the authority of the kingdom of God implies yielding to the rulership and dictates of God.
Jesus commanded us to love one another. When we walk in love towards all men, we are allowing God to reign over us. Anyone who refuses to walk in love is actually rejecting Jesus from ruling over him as Lord. In love there is no occasion of stumbling. The righteousness which is of the Kingdom of God is made manifest when we act in love. Anyone who hates his brother de el abides still in the kingdom of darkness even though he may claim to be a Christian.
Hatred is the characteristic of the life of those who are under the rulership of Satan. People who hate always find themselves committing different types of sin. They stumble and fall into a lot of errors because they are walking in darkness. Though the sun shines in the day and illuminates your environment, yet it cannot illuminate you morally or spiritually.
God’s word is the spiritual and moral light that illuminates us when we receive it and allow it to dominate our actions. Many people are walking in spiritual and moral darkness because they do not act on God’s word. God rules and reigns over us when we walk in love.
John 3 16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Love gives. The character of love when it is in motion is that it gives. All throughout the scriptures we see God demonstrating His nature of him as a giver. Christ Jesus who was God manifest in the flesh exemplified this in His sacrificial death of him on the cross that the scripture admonishes husbands to follow in the same giving path of love.
Ephesians 5:25 says Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. If you are in a relationship and truly in love, the proof of your love towards whoever you are in a relationship with, is seen in how much you are ready to give to that person.
Selfishness, on the contrary, goes into a relationship only thinking about what he or she can get and what you can give to it. Selfishness destroys relationship. True love is sacrificial in its nature.
Ephesians 5:2 says And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor
True love always requires sacrifice. It begins from you denying yourself and becoming less self-centered. It progresses to you seeking the good of the person you are in love with even at your own expense.
The problem with most people is that they go into relationships only thinking of themselves and what they can get. As a result, the relationship always ends up with conflicts because when two selfish people come together in a relationship, they will always end up fighting because none of them is ready to yield grounds or to sacrifice.
Are you selfish? Reflect on your relationships today. Are you mostly concerned about yourself in your choices and decisions? Or do you invest and give to others? Love is constantly and consistently good. This where many of us have failed in our love walk. Carry the aroma of love with you wherever you go, just the way you carry the aroma of the perfume you wear.
Most people change their character because of the perceived behavior of others. Have you noticed that God never changes His attitude towards you regardless of what you do? God is love and of His own will He begat us so we can be like He is.
James 1:17 says Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
God is love and with love there is no variableness nor shadow of turning. Love does not vary in His attitude towards you and by being constantly good towards you, He is able to bring you to repentance.
Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
God is love and love remains rich and good towards the ungodly. Love forbears and suffers long because the goodness of love brings sinners and wrong doers to repentance.
Never forget this, we can change people faster by being patient with them rather than losing our composure because of their actions.
