Actor Dhanush recently announced his separation from wife Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, a piece of news that sent shockwaves across the Internet. In a joint statement released earlier this week, the couple revealed that they had filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.
Now according to reports, the actor’s father, film-maker Kasthuri Raja, told a Tamil newspaper
dailythandi that their divorce is a “family quarrel” and denied the talks of separation.
In the interview, he further said that he spoke to them over the phone and gave them some advice. Raja further revealed that the couple is currently in Hyderabad and not in Chennai.
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa tied the knot in 2004 and are parents to two sons. The actor had met Aishwaryaa on the release day of his film ‘Kadhal Kondaen’.
On Monday night, the two announced their separation.
“18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other… The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate… Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with it,” the joint statement read.
On the other hand, the actor’s now former wife shared the same statement on her Instagram. “No caption neededβ¦only your understanding n your love necessary!,” wrote Aishwaryaa, who is also a film-maker and playback singer.
The estranged couple urged their fans to respect their decision and give them the much-needed privacy.

Dhanush was 20, and Aishwaryaa, 22 when they married on 18 November in 2004. The couple has two sons, Yatra and Linga, who were born in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
While announcing the divorce the couple shared a statement that read, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple as parents and well-wishers to each other.
